ZoomingSouth Bay Quilters Guild has maintained our regular activities and even expanded them during our time of sheltering at home. We've learned to embrace Zoom gatherings for board, committee and general meetings since we cannot be physically together.
Monthly Guild meetings are held virtually the third Tuesday of the month with a guest speaker most months. Click here for our upcoming schedule of speakers. Please contact our Membership Chairs Louise Aguilar and Jeanine Hamada at membership@southbayquiltersguild.org about attending our Guild meeting as a guest or for information about membership in our guild. During the quilt show, you may pay for your membership with a credit card here. Virtual meetings afford an opportunity to be part of groups that wouldn't be possible in person. Link to join We usually have a workshop with our speakers. Often it is the day after our regular meeting, or a Saturday or even a multi-day workshop. Click here for the upcoming workshops. Zoom has allowed us a lot more flexibility! See the slide show for projects our members have begun in one of our workshops during 2020. Non-members may also participate in our workshops. Contact Mary Jane Jewell at workshopcoordinator@southbayquiltersguild.org to sign up.

Quilting Together while Staying Safe at HomeAt the beginning of the pandemic, one of our members organized a mystery quilt project. Participants were members of at least three different quilt guilds. Everyone had so much fun, three more mysteries were run! See some of the projects in the slide show.
Sew-Ins are a new activity which began in August 2020. About 4 times per week our members are invited to drop-in to a Zoom meeting while they sew at home. It is like sewing with your friends. If you're stuck on a sewing problem, there might be someone in attendance who can help you through it. Maybe you'll get some new inspiration. This is one of the perks of membership in SBQG. |

Working Together but ApartOur Community Services projects continue with members dropping off and picking up supplies, kits and finished projects on porches. See our Community Outreach section for more information. COVID-19 restrictions have put a hold on distribution of our Comfort Quilts to hospitals and care facilities, but we have supported requests of new community partners. Face masks were a huge request in the spring and summer. |
