DEPARTMENT OF CHILDREN & FAMILY SERVICES

Project Background

The SBQG DCFS Project supports foster children in the care of DCFS (Department of Child and Family Services).  Due to domestic violence or unsafe conditions, these children often leave their homes with just the clothes on their backs. Our contributions help improve the quality of life for these children and families. Guild members donate backpacks (aka Emergency Placement Bags) and many of the items needed for them.

Things needed by the Torrance DCFS office include:

• Hygiene items (toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, shampoo, brushes, combs, conditioner, lotion, baby wipes, etc.)
• Clothing items (underwear, socks, shirts, pants, sleepwear) for children age 2 through 6
• Kids cups, pull-ups, toddler clothes (including socks, shoes, underwear, pajamas)
• Age-appropriate toys, games or books
• Gift cards to places like Target, Kohls, Walmart, and grocery stores (most useful for the teens in need)
• And, yes, quilts are welcome too!
