February 2024 (Anne Sonner)
The February speaker was Anne Sonner, speaking on “Vintage to Modern.” Anne shared her quilts with lots of entertaining and amusing stories! Her trunk show featured a variety of quilts and techniques from antique quilts to baby quilts to appliqué to Hawaiian to friendship quilts, using all sorts of fabrics in addition to cotton. Reed shared his quilting journey and how he discovered his creative side. He shared an extensive trunk show that included many quilts of his own design, which is his favorite part of the process.

The November speaker was Karen Brown, of Just Get it Done Quilts. She provided an entertaining presentation on “Be the Best Quilter You Can Be.” She talked about recognizing our strengths through an audience participation exercise, and strategies to get through tasks that are less appealing. Karen fills an interesting niche where she offers tips and techniques along with self-improvement and self-care.

The July Guild meeting featured Meg Cox, speaking on "Quilt Journalist Tells All...A Reporter Inside the Quilt World."Ohio native Meg Cox has been earning her living as a writer since graduating from Northwestern University. Her lecture was entertaining and informative. Her two specialties are family traditions and quilting, two wildly misunderstood topics. Meg shared a behind the scenes look into the quilting industry, putting her journalistic skills into action! She also shared photos of some of her quilts which illustrated her creativity and word art! She engaged the audience with questions related to her lecture and the correct answers were rewarded with a fat quarter! If you have a chance to listen to her lectures, you’re sure to learn something new. In the meantime you can subscribe to her newsletter.
