The Broad (pronounced Brode) is a wonderful contemporary art museum located in downtown Los Angeles. Built in 2015, The Broad’s architecture is as contemporary as the artwork housed inside. The glass and steel building is surrounded by a honeycomb-like exterior referred to as The Veil. The Veil wraps around the entire building, filtering and transmitting daylight into the indoor spaces. This quilt is an original design based on a photograph taken during my visit to The Broad. The photo was shot inside the north facing third-floor gallery and features downtown Los Angeles as viewed through the rings of The Veil.
