South Bay Quilters Guild members have generously donated beautiful quilts to our live auction which will be held Saturday, February 22nd at 3:30pm in the George Nakano Theater. You may attend in person (registration begins at 2:30pm) or register to participate via Zoom (link will be available by February 1st). Preview our auction items below or in person Saturday morning before the auction 10am to 1pm in the entrance area and main exhibit hall.
Each Bloom Unique
by SBQG Members 45” x 45” Inspired by the 2025 Opportunity Quilt, flower blocks made in an applique techniques class taught by Quilt Show Chair Sue Glass and star blocks leftover from making the Opportunity Quilt were incorporated as well as LOTS of circles. Sue's signature piped binding finishes the quilt. |
Friends Are a Gift
by Melanie Dreike 42” x 46” A Mary Engelbreit panel purchased on a trip with a friend made this fun to work on. Did her friend finish her quilt? |
Mountain Moonglow
by Melanie Dreike and Julie Limbach Jones 17” x 24” A modern mini with a little sparkle! The moon shines over the mountains casting its glow. |
Crazy Pillow
by Mary Jane Jewell 17” x 17” Bits of leftover braid and such led to making a pillow by adding embroidered blocks. |
Noah’s Ark
by Melanie Drieke 48” x 53” Cute panel that came across my sewing room table and fun to put together. Pinwheels make everything cute and wonderful. |
Bunny Business
by Nadine Kirk and Valerie Mendenhall 46.5” x 48.5” Valerie used faux fur for the bunny bodies and lace doilies for trim on the flower pots; Nadine added broderie perse butterflies and assembled this cute springtime quilt. |
Iris
by Nadine Kirk and Valerie Mendenhall 17.5” x 23” Valerie made the Iris panel and Nadine Kirk assembled, quilted it, and added the embroidered bulb roots. |
Labyrinth
by Nadine Kirk 32.75”x 32.75” A fun first experience using Make it Curvy templates by Jen Carlton Bailly. The wool batting gives extra definition to the quilting. |
Little Vases
by Sue Glass 46” x 50” A colorful quilt using a pattern by Sue’s favorite Australian Quilter, Irene Blanck. |
Asian Jewel Tones
by Valerie Mendenhall, 33.5 x 36.5 Inspired by trips to Cambodia and Thailand to see the work of World Vision in helping disadvantaged communities. The trips gave Valerie an appreciation of Asian culture creating this quilt in her favorite color palette. |
Springtime Wreath
by Valerie Mendenhall 33” x 33” A carefully cut pink fabric pieced in pixelated fashion results in a lovely wreath accentuated by a crisp white background and quilted with an iridescent thread to catch the light. |
Flights of Fancy in the Jungle
by Valerie Mendenhall 46” x 46” A quilt of exotic birds using Laurel Burch’s Jungle Parrot fabric come to life in vibrant colors and custom quilting. |
