How will you spend New Year’s Eve 2010?
- Finishing a quilt project that you were determined to complete this year? I crocheted a baby blanket a few years ago with a goal (that I pulled out of thin air) to complete the blanket before the new year. I worked as fast as I could until a couple minutes after midnight, so didn’t quite make it, but it felt great to finish the project.
- Preparing for a New Year’s Day mystery quilt? I found four mysteries planned for tomorrow:
- At a gathering with family/friends? Watching the ball drop at midnight?
- Closing out year-end tax and financial records? Making files and labels for 2011? Yes, I need to do that, but it’s an easy task to procrastinate!
- At an online party? I thought it would be interesting to check out Stitchin’ Heaven’s Twitter party. I’ve never followed a Twitter party but it sounds fun. The party starts at 8pm Pacific, and details are here.
What plans do you have for this evening?

I noticed that you mentioned my mystery project for the end of 2010 — well now we are into 2011 aren’t we? So thanks so much for mentioning my blog. Just to let you know. I try to post a mystery project for each long weekend here in Canada… in case you want to stop in again.
Susan, thank you for the info! And I hope the December project was a success!
I like the word try followed by finish. My moto. try to finish!!! Me, for New Years Eve I danced the night away with friends and when it rains later today I will quilt quilt quilt. We have the quilt show coming up and stuff to finish! Happy New year.
Dee, good luck with the year’s try-and-finish theme!
2011 is going to be my more quilting year! I look forward to the hours I have this weekend to quilt. A charity quilt and hopefully the 2012 raffle nine patch quilt blocks that need to be finished.
Melanie, hope you had a wonderful weekend with plenty of hours for quilt. Sounds like your theme is “more quilting”!
I’ll be crocheting! My 7-year-old granddaughter requested a replacement for her worn-out blankie (crocheted by somebody else). My daughter emailed a scan of the old one, and Google found the instructions. It’s about 80% done, and I won’t finish it tonight.
I usually choose a Word for the Year, but in 2011 I’m going to re-use my 2009 word – Finish – and my 2010 word – Try. Still have things to Finish, and still need to be brave and Try more new quilting skills.
Crocheting sounds good for tonight, and you’re also inside the toasty house. I love to keep busy even while watching (listening to) TV. And I like your “Word for the Year,” creating a theme for the new year. Great idea that I will consider for myself! Enjoy your evening!
